Meet Abigail Norman! Join us for her slide talk, one of the ten featured presentations that make up Elisa H. Hamilton's new communal storytelling and photography project "Slideshow." Reserve a free HUB Pass at the ticket link and you will be able to gain admission to any or all of the slide talks. Produced in conjunction with HUBWeek, "Slideshow" is using the original slideshow format and tangible analog slides and invites HUBweek participants to share in the day-to-day work, family life, and social context of each woman. Abigail Norman lives and works in Jamaica Plain, where she is Director of the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts, inspiring lifelong learning in craftsmanship and creativity for all. She has worked for nearly 40 years in community-based arts and media, including time as Program Coordinator at Forest Hills Educational Trust and Director of Somerville Community Access Television. Her work in the field started at Women Make Movies in 1978. She serves as a member of the Boston Cultural Council and sits on the planning council for the Mini-Maker Faire at Boston Children’s Museum. She loves to draw and experiment with pop-up paper folding. She believes in communities working together for social justice and ecological well-being Learn more about Abigail at: www.nowandthere.org/abigailnorman Taking place in and around a shipping container located in the HUB at City Hall Plaza, Slideshow will create a community viewing and conversation space. The eleven slide presentations, created by the women along with one by the artist, will take place at the container between October 12 and 15. When not activated with a slide talk, the shipping container will be a place for the public to touch, hold, and examine the women's slides together on a communal light table with a magnifying loupe To learn more about the project visit nowandthere.org/slideshow.
